Our Owner

Mrs. Arden Hubbard has had 35 years of experience in the field of education. Being a classroom teacher, a music teacher, mother, and grandmother has kept her close to children at all times. Her love for children extends throughout the staff providing warmth, security, and pride to every child in our school.

Our Philosophy:

At Olde Riverside School and Camp, we feel that one
preschooler is many persons. He/she is one physical body, one social entity, one emotional being, one creative spirit, and one growing individual. We provide a safe, secure, and loving atmosphere in which your child can experiment, explore, and create. Under the guidance of experienced New Jersey certified teachers and small class settings, we hope to help your child build a good foundation for life. Our aim is to develop a well-rounded individual by helping him/her
grow physically, socially, emotionally and educationally
.

Our School Program

Our early childhood program is flexible and provides for many varied educational experiences. We have developmentally appropriate activities that are selected to achieve the following goals:

• Foster positive self-concept
• Develop social skills
Encourage children to think, reason, question, and experiment
Encourage language development
• Enhance physical development and skills
• Encourage/demonstrate sound health safety, and nutrition practices
• Encourage creative expression and appreciation for the arts
• Respect cultural diversity

Our program is enhanced by visits from community resource persons throughout the year. Walking trips throughout the community and bus trips are also part of the curriculum.

Daily Activities

We have as many “doing activities” as possible for we feel that this is the way a child learns best.
A typical day includes many of the following:

Block Building
• Sand and Water Play
• Creative Dramatics
• Stories and Fingerplays
• Cooking
• Music and Rhythms
• Science and Math Concepts
• Health
• Social Science
• Reading and Writing Readiness

Play is also a very important part of our day.
During each session, the children are provided a light nutritious snack and drink.
